Preparation (Typical)

1. Suspend required quantity of Blood Agar Base in distilled water

2. Heat with frequent agitation to dissolve completely

3. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes

4. Cool to 45–50°C, then aseptically add sterile defibrinated blood

5. Mix gently and pour plates
